The public area of the Kievit District serves as an international oriented entrance area for Antwerp Central Station, as an urban office and housing place and as a green leisure area.
That is why a strong identity is the most important part of the design: as a binding element between the different atmospheres and users, and as a structuring element in the public domain of the district. The winning competition design by BUUR-HOSPER is based on three pillars: identity, green and security. All possible design tools have been used to create a very green place with a strong identity that appeals to users from the immediate area and provides an international entrance area for the city.
In 2013 the construction started with a tree planting activity for residents. At the moment the implementation is in full swing.
