Leeuwarden Wilhelmina Square
As part of the project ‘Nieuw Zaailand' HOSPER designed the public space for the Wilhelmina Square and its surroundings. On the 27th till the 30th of September the project had its grand opening with a thunderous spectacle! The Wilhelmina Square is located in the centre of Leeuwarden. On the space of the former square the new Fries Museum, which will open its doors in 2013, has been built and one side of the square has been given a new façade of shops and apartments. Due to these interventions the square has become an intimate space. Moreover the Wilhelminaplein has become part of the pedestrian domain. This provides ample opportunities to make it a lively space.
